Fix for the issue of inventory devices with IBM software installs incorrectly set to Ignored when linked to an asset which is retired/disposed

note

This enhancement is available with IT Asset Management.

Previously, inventory devices with IBM software installations were incorrectly set to Ignored instead of being updated to Archived when linked to an asset which was already retired or disposed. This error also occurred when aforementioned inventory devices received inventory.

This error led to the prevention of expected historic consumption from IBM PVU and VPC licenses prior to the asset being retired/disposed.

This release solves this issue. From this release, the inventory device status will be updated to Archived when linked to an asset that is retired or disposed even if inventory is received.

tip

The status of an inventory device can be viewed from the All Inventory page. The status Archive means the device is in transition pending deletion, but is currently held because of its historical impacts on IBM PVU sub-capacity retrospective calculations. The Ignored status means that the device is not managed, and the ignored device is not considered in license consumption calculations.

New columns showing the total number of virtual machines (VMs) with operating system variant added to the Cluster reporting object in Report Builder

note

This enhancement is available with IT Asset Management.

In this release, the Report Builder has been further enhanced to report on the total number of virtual machines (VMs) with operating system variant (Windows, SUSE Linux, RHEL) for each host and its parent cluster, enabling more accurate license consumption calculations.

The following three columns have been added to the Report Builder within the Cluster reporting object:

  • RHEL virtual machines (number)

  • SUSE virtual machines (number)

  • Windows virtual machines (number)

These additional columns help customers gain insight into the number of hosts within a cluster. For example, in a cluster of five hosts, the report will show how many VMs are running on each host, and of those VMs, how many are running RHEL, SUSE Linux, or Windows.

For more details on creating a custom report in the Report Builder, see Creating a Custom Report in the Help.

IT Visibility

IT Visibility released the following features and enhancements in February 2025.

Email subscriptions for custom reports now available in IT Visibility With Technology Intelligence Platform (Beta Release)

note

This beta feature is available with IT Visibility With Technology Intelligence Platform and is not available to all customers yet. This feature will be made available to all customers by the end of February 2025. If you would like this beta feature enabled in the user interface earlier, contact Flexera Support. For more information, see Contacting Flexera Support.

With this feature, users with the Viewer or Editor access level to a report can create a private subscription to receive the report via email at a set frequency.

If you have the Manage custom reports role, you can also create a shared subscription, enabling other users to receive the report via email at a set frequency, in addition to creating your own private subscription.

As reports are delivered directly to the user’s inbox, this feature enables them to make crucial business decisions regarding their IT landscape in a well-informed and timely manner. The reports help users align their IT strategies effectively, ensuring they take timely actions to meet the risk management, cost optimization, governance and compliance needs of their hybrid IT estate. For more information, see Subscribing to a Custom Report in the Flexera One Help.
