Working With the Contextual Data Store API

note

If you have already been upgraded to Technology Intelligence Platform, information in this section is applicable to you. This section provides guidance about the use of the Contextual Data Store API to augment your organization’s inventory data with non-discoverable business context data you provide.

There are three types of sources of contextualization for “Data Mashups”.

For all source types, the data brought in should be matched with an existing field or set of fields used to ensure an accurate match is found.

Device Contextualization

The data being brought in for contextualization (data mashup) for devices must be matched either by HardwareID or by a combination of Name, Domain, and SerialNumber:

  • HardwareID

or

  • Name

  • Domain

    note

Domain can be left blank if that is how the matching device is configured in the platform.

  • SerialNumber

note

For more information on Device Contextualization fields, see Device mashup in developer.flexera.com.

Software Contextualization

The data being brought in for contextualization (data mashup) for software must be matched by either TechnopediaGUID or TechnopediaLegacyID:

  • TechnopediaGUID

or

  • TechnopediaLegacyID
note

Business Service Contextualization

  • BusinessServiceID
